PACIN has developed three publications on packing and crating methods and materials -- "Soft Packing, Methods and Methodology for the Packing and Transport of Art and Artifacts", "The Crate Itself, Proven Design Techniques and Alternative Ideas" and "Technical Drawing Handbook of Packing and Crating Methods." These books are available through this website. All publications are shipped ready to be slipped into a 3-Ring binder. The books are $15.00 each or all 3 for $36.00 plus shipping. The Crate Itself, Proven Design Techniques and Alternative Ideas
This book was originally published for the 1996 Minneapolis AAM Conference Workshop. "Evolved from years of observation and discussions among other museum and commercial packers about the necessities and techniques for building a successful and effective crate for safely shipping objects.." begins Brent Powell's introduction to this book which looks at the crate, primarily the exterior shell. Filled with dozens of illustrations, it covers the packing case from the conservator's perspective, the slat crate, the standard wood crate and alternative to wood.

Soft Packing, Methods and Methodology for the Packing and Transport of Art and Artifacts
Published for the 1994 Seattle AAM Conference Workshop, Martha S. Fulton writes the foreword and Brent Powell writes the introduction for this book that address the methods, principles and decisions involved in safely transporting soft-packed art and artifacts. Full of illustrations that look at the various materials and methods that can be used as well as transportation issues. The last chapter looks at soft-packing and risk management.

Technical Drawing Handbook of Packing and Crating Methods
Martha S. Fulton describes this book "Not a how-to-book", but rather it is intended as a source of crating styles and designs for packing both two-dimensional and three dimensional objects." It is a guide to assist anyone in what to consider and what to do when packing objects." It was published in 1993.
